My Panasonic TZ99 is intermittently reluctant to fast zoom, is this a fault ?

Yes
I have a Panasonic TZ99 and occasionally it will not zoom as I want it to. It may zoom just a bit, then stop, and it then takes repeated operation of the zoom lever to get it to zoom fully.
I know the zoom lever was a weak point on the TZ range but this camera is only a year old ! However, the TZ99 is so complicated (compared to my previous TZ70) that it is possible there is some esoteric setting that is responsible, though if that is the issue why is the fault intermittent ?

I have the TZ95 version sticking like yours so sent it away for overhaul came back like new. look up " https://www.dkavs.co.uk". they also repaired an old camcorder until it eventually packed up fully with age. Where I went wrong was puttting the camera face down with the lens extended

I think John Lewis use them, and my camera is, fortunately, still under its 2 year warranty, thank Gawd I go that ! To be fair I'd have probably investigated this further a few months ago had it only had a one year guarantee ! !

that company I think does warranty work as well , give them a call. Maybe worth thinking about insurance as well in the future

Unfortunately the days when extended warranties for digital cameras were common and cheap (I can remember when Jessops were more bothered about selling you the extended warranty than the camera ! ) have long gone, D&G told me that to extend the warranty beyond the John Lewis two year period would be about £10 a month ! That is £120 a year......
It was discussed on here :

Are extended warranties on cameras still available ?
