My picture made it on Flickr Explore

It's a computer programme that selects images based on all sorts of technical mumbojumbo and then displays them on a section on the front page of Flickr.

A lot of people think it means their pics are really good and get all bigheaded about it, but judging by the amount of crap of mine that's been there it all a load of bs... sorry

Well I've had over 100 on Explore so I'm going to say it knows its stuff :p If you goto www.flickrriver.com you can easily see what makes the daily top 500 on Flickr. Its a fancy bit of maths that picks the top 500 submitted each day. 80% are very good but some whacky stuff gets in there.

I currently have 13 on explore, and 32 all time.

This is a neat tool, FLICKR SCOUT. The one you see is mine, but you can click to see yours :)

I think if people knew how it worked, it wouldn't work  if that makes sense. There are some really pants shots on there, but mostly they are excellent.

Explore is a good way of browsing a varied selection of images that have had [some of] the rubbish filtered out. It is certainly not a measure of how good your photos are, despite what some may think. Some seem to get quite sore about the fact that their photos did not make it. Others seem to think they are the best ever because a computer algorythm selected them.

Visit the Not in explore but should have been group for some examples of top-class arrogance.

Explore is great if you want to view:

Sunsets
HDR Kittens
Flower Macro
Birds sometimes
HDR anything really
More Sunsets
edit re. pete Semi Nude ladies, im pretty sure its the artistic content of these images that produces all the hits

and other such stuff that clutters flickr

Infact one of the most popular pictures i have seen of late was a combination of HDR a kitten a sunset and an iphone created as a joke it got about 300 comments and now flickr are using for promotions!

It is in no way a measure of how good your photos are, i know plenty of people that change their dates of their photos if they get on to Explore cos there comments are clogged with horrendous Gifs and 'Post 1 comment 245 thz iz tha bst pic evazz!!'. Though some people love the exposure.

(not to say yours is bad its a good sharp pan)

I often delete those stupid comments. You missed a big thing on explore. Hot girls :) There often a lot of nice photos on it though.
