hi guys, not sure if this is the right area or if im allowed to do this at all bt i havent seen anywhere else or anything forbidding me so just say if there is and ill sort it!


got my website up this weekend and linked with a blog which im gonna get rolling and was wondering if anyone had any feedback:

Nice and simple. I like the site.

Regards content I don't see the difference in having a film/digital gallery?

There's a difference in styles too... Who are you aiming the site at? There's landscapes, pets, portraits, design work..... Just confusing who you'r target market is. I do this too but have a strong leaning towards weddings and portraits.

Some nice images - a few strong ones - but others bring that down - I have a problem with trying to show only the strongest myself! Try to stick to the strongest images.

yeah i can see what you mean on the digital/film thing - ive been thinking about changing it to people/places/graphics/branding - or something similar?

ive had a think about whats on there and im gonna cut it down a bit - you have a point with some of the work bringing down the general quality of the other work.

im also gonna try and get all my work for print printed off and take photos of the actual final piece rather than the digital file? i think that will probably look more professional?
 
Why would you take a photo of a print when you have the digital image? That will not look more professional imo. Sure show some stuff on the wall but the digital image will look superior.

i was thinking like business cards and stuff - a bit like on here:

obviously with digital work made for digital viewing ill keep as it is - but with print designs surely it would look better photographing the prints like on the link above do you think?
 
I thought you meant taking an image of an image? If taking an image of a product design yes that may be nice to show your work but not an image of a print?
 
Some of the parts of the site seem to be out of place and jarring.

For instance on my monitor with XP Pro SP3 and running IE8 the word creative is underneath Tom Horton and above Home and is slightly overwritten by some of the words of Tom Horton.

There is also a small dash mark under, and to the left of, Home.

And the forward and backward arrows in places are not equal on each side.

Also the navigation changes between people and places.

You need consistent navigation throughout the site otherwise it looks shoddy and amateurish.

Sorry to be so negative but when it comes to websites both God and the Devil really are in the detail.

that was actually in the design! but if people are seeing it as an error i guess ill have to change it, cant be working too well!

been working on this, not sure what it is - should be gone soon though hopefully :|

I think thats because of the amount of images i have in that gallery, when theyve been bulked out the bottom roll of images will go right across and the arrows will be spot on.

yes i meant on the product-based designs like business cards, my logos being used on things, brochures/flyers etc.. not the photos! just the stuff in the design gallery thats designed primarily for print.

think i just wasnt being clear enough!
 
Just seems too much space on the left side of the page. Not sure if it is an alignment thing or deliberate, but it just seems to be a waste of space.

Also I like the roll over to italic detail, but the navigation seems clunky. A series of drop down menus would have made things much cleaner.

Being really picky, I don't like the change of font size on About in your sidebar, also I am not a fan of it being all caps personally think it would look better as normal, but thats prob just me being picky.

Overall a clean design which I like, although would be good to see galleries in there.
