I've been asked to produce some actress headshots for this lady, which will ultimately be 10x8 B/W prints. I'm just canvasing opinions on the toning. I prefer to have a lot of contrast on monotone images. I've not applied any skin smoothing or other PP at this stage...

The problem with boosting the blacks / contrast on a black background is that you risk losing the definition between her hair and the background. Perhaps adding a rim light would fix this?

Apart from this, it looks ok to me. I like the lighting on the first one.

Yeah... I could back off a little on the black slider but I just don't feel the image is quite as 'rich'

Your feedback is appreciated though, thanks :)

I think the skin tone is great,
but i am not keen on the hair ,it looks oversharpened almost straw like.
