ND - behind or in fromt of UV?

Hi guys

I've just got a new lens and have a B+W UV filter on it. I don't want to get into a debate about the usefulness of a UV, but I wanted to ask about using an ND.

In the past I've put it over my UV filter - is this technically the best way? I recall reading something somewhere saying that one way round wasn't a good idea, but I can't find it and would be interested to read why.

I really like carrying an ND8 as they allow me to take pictures like this with the 3 stop compensation

Whenever possible, avoid stacking filters to reduce the chances of picture wrecking flare. If you must use a UV (opinions are very divided and this doesn't need to be rehashed here!), remove it before you fit an ND, pol or whatever.
 
Having the ND in front of the UV is a really bad idea. So is having the UV in front of the ND.
 
Laziness and less fiddle 'in the field'

To be fair I've had no problems putting an ND8 in front of a UV (eg Pic above) although I know in theory it's probably not best practice.

Guess a few people do it as many filters have threads on both sides.

i dont see why it would matter much tbh, and theres less faff, plus i may have dinked and put a mark on a lens when changing filter, it was a heavy teleconverter, but still :\

I'm not trying to debate but u.v. Filters are used primarily for protection these days because most lenses already have u.v built in. Stacking filters is always a bad idea. So to stack a u.v. Filter over any filter is not a good practice at all. Use the u.v for protection and take it off when you use the other filter.
