ND Filter or Filter kit for Sigma 12-24

Hi, I have the above lens which is probably my best lens for doing a bit of landscape photography but I wouldn't mind trying an ND filter on it to enable me to lengthen the shutter speed. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might source one from?- I've done some digging and due to the shape of the front glass I may struggle to attach something there, but apparently there should be something I could attach to the rear glass ND wise..... but as yet I can't find any.

Any help, tips or general direction would be appreciated.
 
Formatt HiTech makes a filter system for the Sigma 12-24, called Lucroit or something like that, but it's huge and expensive. There's nothing commercially available to rear mount a filter, even if there was physically enough room to do it.

You get a little gel filter holder to fit on the camera end of that lens, or at least I did with mine and I'm sure that the OP is thinking about an ND that'll fit in the same way... I never used it/them myself but I'm sure I got a little gel filter holder with my 12-24mm along with instructions.

OP. Did you get a little gel filter holder with the lens? If you didn't maybe you can get one and cut something to size to get you the shutter speed you want?

PS. Thinking about it... what I got with the lens may just have been a template to aid cutting filters to size rather than an actual holder and it may be that the filter just fits in a slot in the back of the lens, I can't quite remember. Best have a look at the back of the lens and see what's there...

I don't think the Mk2 version Sigma 12-24 has that rear gel filter holder slot.
 
I've seen kludges/bodges using tale or blutak to fix big square filters to the front of the 12-24. The older 12-24 (didn't know there was a new version) has a slot for gels and was supplied with a template for gutting the gels from new. Not ideal for grads or pols though.
 
Thanks everyone. I got the lens used so didn't get a template or anything but there is a slot at the rear that looks like it will take something.
 
I'll have a shufti and see if the 8mm fisheye and 12-24 use the same template, if so, I'll let you borrow one to get some gels cut to size. If not, I'll measure the 12-24 one accurately so you can make a template. They'll be in the loft though, so might be a while!
 
Mk2 version of the Sigma 12-24 was introduced in 2011. It's a completely new lens and has a smooth surface finish instead of the kinda velvety black. But you're in with a chance of something at least in the Mk1's gel slot :thumbs:

Or an alternative to ND grads is HDR technique.
