ND Filter pouch

Hi mate, I wrestled with this one for a while

I ended up with the Lowepro filter pouch, I binned the insert though and use 2 x Lee filter fleece wraps, a Lee CPL canvas pouch, Big Stopper tin and the holder which all fit in !!

I strap it to the side of my camera backpack when travelling and then have it on my belt when I start shooting for ease of access

It all works really well

The lee pouch is very good - I have both the 3 filter pouch and the 10. For ease of access the 3 filter is much better as you just slide in and out - with the book type 10 filter its a lot more fiddly to do anything quickly and often I feel that I need 3 hands as I seem to catch the filter on the zip (but this has as yet done no damage) when putting them back. They are also quite hard to slide in and out the pouches. My ideal solution would be one like the 3 filter pouch with more slots, I think the lowe pro one has more?

Another soultion I have used, a bit like Big Nick is to use the fleece wraps in the 3 stop holder, and then I can get 9 filters in if I want - again though those 3 filter fleece wraps are even more fiddly than the 10 filter pouch.

Therefore in conclusion the 10 filter pouch does the job well enough, I don't think there is an ideal solution - maybe the lowe pro provides that?

I find it amazing that no manufacturer makes a decent 6"x4" filter pouch that fits securely on a backpack belt. I've seen the Lee 3-filter pouch but it's too big and flabby, and it wouldn't fit securely on a Lowepro or f-stop belt. These people are so clever at designing bags - why ever not a filter pouch?

It would have to be padded and waterproof (or have a waterproof cover). I had one made for me about fifteen years ago but its pretty worn out now, and nowhere can I find anything to replace it. None of the US manufacturers seem to make one either.

Mine only has two pockets because I only use 2 GND's but a few more pockets wouldn't go amiss.

I have wondered if it might be worth getting together and contacting one of the manufacturers. It might make them think!
