Hey all. Im looking for a ND filter to photograph water and the likes for long exposures, anyone got any good recommendations for a filter? I can't afford the Lee Big Stopper unfortunately so that's out, but something cheaper but decent if you get me. Thanks.

Hitech prostop IRND.

Cheaper than lee and less colour cast. You'll still np need a holder and adapter ring though.

There's a long thread on here with some impressive photos taken through a Haida filter.

Is it better to go with the holder/adapter ring setup for a screw on filter? I think I prefer the screw on filter myself. Just need something that's half way decent and doesn't end up turning all your pictures red/dark purple.

P.S the Haida filter looks decent from quick glance .

The thing with screw on filters, well 10 stop ones is often the camera can't see through them, so you can't easily compose your shot, and autofocus certainly won't work. So you have to set the focus manually, them try and screw the filter in without disturbing the focus, then take the shot. If you knock the camera or the focus, you have to start again. It can get rather infuriating.

I used to have a LCW 10 stop that was great and had little colour cast, but it was a complete PITA.

Thanks for the reply, I did find that with other filter I've had, what is LCW filter?

SRB screw in 10 stop for £30

I've had some great results and have put a review in the Reviews section

There's a few shots taken with it on my Flickr site with scudding skies
