This is a daft question I think but can anyone tell me how many stops an
ND x8 filter is equivalent to please.

Thank you very much. I did have an idea it was about that but I quite often imagine I know what I'm talking about when I really don't. :bonk:

ND2 is 1 stop, or 1/2 light transmittance.
ND4 is 2 stop, or 1/4 light transmittance.
ND8 is 3 stop, or 1/8 light transmittance.

It's worth writing the stops equivalent on the case of the filter so you don't have to remember.
