ND8 is perfect for landscapes . It's not unusual to have a couple of different ones in your kit, say ND4 and ND8, oh, and get an ND Grad first, more useful.

Nd's are for slowing your shutter speed down ie: to blur movement as in waterfalls and seascapes etc. nd grads are for controlling the exposure between land and sky. Now depending on what you are wanting them for.....if landscapes and sunsets, then i'd suggest grads.
