Yes
I know what they are and how they work as ive done a lot of motion picture work. However what should I look for when im going to get some for my canon?

Are they expensive?

cokin P filters are pretty good, and are reasonable in price, but cause vignetting below 19mm on my 17-70 sigma.hi-tec filters are said to be better, and fit the cokin P holder....and the best are lee filters, but are quite expensive, but are big enough to use on the widest of lens without causing vignetting.

I use a Lee filter holder with Hitech 100mm filters - the Lee holder is very sturdy and the HItechs are good enough for my use.

At 10mm with wide angle adapter ring I can use 4 filters without vignetting, or 1 filter and CPL on the front

I use Lee Filter and Lee Holder and all in honesty they are FAB i had a cokin setup before it which i sold and the Lee is MILES better. had too much colour cast with cokin

I've been eyeing up the Lee holder and ND grads - very expensive.
They say the Cokin don't display the cast now...
A guy sold a Lee holder, 72mm ring and ND grad set on Fleabay a couple of days ago... Went for £180.00.
I hesitated too long having seen what a circular polariser for the Lee costs - I need that too - and the fact that I would need 58mm & 77mm rings too.
They are 100mm filters though, less vignetting with ultrawides.
Have to look at the Hitechs - not seen those.

Firstly I have to state that I know the Lee people wel and do some work for them, so my comments are slightly biased perhaps, but the Lee system, although expensive, is excellent. One comment I would say about their adaptors is, don't buy the wide angle one if you aren't going to use it on a wide lens, as they are considerably more expensive than the standard one, however on the wide angles they help with vignetting, the one lens that even their wide angle adaptor won't work with is the 16-35 2.8 L mk 1 and 2 , it vignettes when you go wider than approx 20mm. (same applies for the 17-35)
I get round this by simply holding the ND against the lens without a holder.

Blue tac makes a perfect filter holder - and doesn't cause vignetting...I have the Lee system, complete with reversed ring for ultra wide lenses....blue tac is easier, lighter and just more convenient.

Anyone want a Lee holder system with some rings?

I could be interested, looking for a holder system to use with my Sigma 10-20.

See my thread just posted with images on Cokin ND filters - the grads are not much better - shocking colour cast :bang:
