Hi guys,

I am looking to get a long exposure filter and dont know which one to go for. I have a cokin P holder but should I be looking at a screw in? I know the cheaper ones will give me a colour cast but on a solid grad it should be easily enough removed in PP.

Also was looking at the Format.co.uk filters, anyone any experience with them?

Lastly what sive are the Cokin P filers if I was looking to buy a hitech equivilent?

Thanks

Cokin P series filters are 84mm square (grads are rectangular and I don't have any to measure for you - a look at their site should tell you more).

I have used the Hitech 10 stop ND which I bought from formatt. The Hitech does have some issues with flare and colour casts. This was the 100mm filter, the 85mm one might be better though.

I have just finished a review of Lee's Big Stopper and the Hitech 10 stop ND filter. The results can be found here.

Great, thats a tip top review. I will call Format tomorrow and see if their smaller filters fi the cokin P, the difference is 1mm. means I could use on mutiple lenses instead of a screw in. Maybe a silly question but how does a 10 stop convert into there figures of densty 0.3, 0.6, 0.9?

Also, what would the diference be in a ND8 and 10 stop in terms of exsposure times?

Cheers

The HiTech 85mm do fit the Cokin P holder, although ther are a bit tight.

A 10 stop would be a 3.0 I believe.
An ND8 is only gone to give you about 3 stops difference. I don't think Hitech do the 85mm size any greater than 4 stops.http://www.teamworkphoto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=10327

Yep, I wouldn't recommend it myself and now have a B+W screwy.
