Neck Strap advice needed

I'm after a different neck strap for my 5D II. I don't want to use the one in the box, as it advertises what the camera is.

Ideally I'd like something plain black, with good padding for the neck/shoulder bit, but not expensive!

How do the pros do it - I've seen them at events with cameras hanging off their shoulders but whenever I try that with a normal neck strap it feels like it's going to fall off...and if you put your head through the strap and have it diagonally across your body, you can't swivel it to lift it to your eye. Is there some kind of special strap to cater for this?

Help much appreciated - I need to get a strap on my 5D II quick before it gets dropped..!

Been using an Optec strap for years. Its made from black neophrene(?) with raised blobs on the underside where it sits on your shoulder/neck. It reduces the load as well as there is some give it. I hate having the camera hanging round my neck, it lives on my shoulder and though its not as likely to drop off as the Canon one, It can move about, depending what youre wearing.
I'd buy another :)

Have you not noticed that it's sold in this country as the "Sniper" not the R-strap? ;)

Their promo pic doesn't help.....

:plusone: I hated the original Canon neck strap. I love the optech neck strap, it made photography with all the heavy gear pleasurable again.

I've had a LowePro Voyager C for nearly a year now, it cost about £20. They can be had at the moment for £14 - just bought one for my hubby.

Not sure if the OpTech ones also have this feature, but the bulk of the strap can be removed using the quick-release clips - v. handy.

Now I just need LowePro to make tripod bags...

We will have some by the end of next week, they will be keenly priced.

Designed by us and made in the UK.

Another vote for Optech from me - use them on bins and cameras and not had any problems apart from they're not quite long enough to use over the head and shoulder...

I have an Op/tech too and bought an extender strap so that it sits nicely over the head and shoulder bandalero style. Very comfortable

got it from Wokingham Photographic if I remember right
