need a canon kit lens..which one?

thinking of getting a 600d. the difference in price body only is £100 odd:suspect: seeing as I will be fitting a tele straight away... but occasionaly Iand I mean occasionaly I need a wide 18mm type lens and was thinking I could pick one up for half that on the bay of fleas, are all the 18-55mm's created equal or is there one thats better than the rest. I will be useing it only for the odd "scenery" shot?

So long as you get the 18-55 lens that comes with IS you'll be fine. Both the 18-55 IS and 18-55 IS II are the same optically. Probably cheaper to buy one from ebay or on here than to buy new if you are looking to save yourself £50 or so.
 
The 18-55 IS is a bargain and has great IQ. I saw gona say about using FD lenses with adaptors but thats a specialist thing tbh
 
MPB are worth a look - they usually have lots of used kit lenses both with and without IS. that said IMO the kit lens is nasty - I'd suggest getting a nifty for the 50mm end, and saving up for a 10-20 (either sigma or canon) for the wide shots
