I'm fed up of carrying my 7D and lenses around with me all the time and am looking into a small travel kit.
If money were no object it would be an easy decision; M9, plus a couple of lenses.*

I enjoy shooting with fast primes and tend to shoot wide open most of the time.*
*
The obvious contender is the X100, but seems to suffer a little in lens performance at certain ranges, but I do crave this camera.
*
So, what are my alternatives?

Olympus Pen with the new 12mm F2
NEX-5 and Zeiss 24mm (manual focus only and not exactly small)

Nex, m mount adaptor and then whatever m mount lenses you like. Don't have to be the leica ones, voigtlander are nice an you already know about the zeiss quality. You could then save for an m9! ;)
 
The M9 is very good, but getting lenses right now is taking a while and they are expensive. The X100 is what I'd go for if I were you. Some of the shots I've seen with it are very impressive.

I'm heading into London this Friday and hope to have a play with the X100 and the M9.

I'm pretty sure I'm not going down the Leica route but it will be nice to feel/hold it before I make my decision.
 
G3 with Voigtlander 25mm f0.95?

I have the 25mm with a G1 and can't say enough good things about it.

You'll need to use a ND filter on a sunny day otherwise you'll probably be limited to something like f2.8.

If you've got £7k spare go for the Leica, but handle the X100 before the Leica ;)

The Lumix G3 advert just came on there and that could be up your street too, light and still packs a punch.
