What monitor out there in 24" that is under £300 if possible that is GOOD for photo work to pair up with my Macbook Pro
 
You might want to look at the Eizo S2202W. It's a 22" not a 24 but seems to be a good buy at around £330
 
Hi,
I too have been looking for some new screens. I need a pair of the, as I have a duel screen setup, been looking at the Dell G2410 24" it is LED backlit rather than older tube, yes I know its a TN pannel, but are TN panels really that bad?
 
Just too add, the Dell 2209WA seems to be really good price, for an IPS panel.
 
I recently bought this one, only I paid a bit more than this but it seems to have gone down to £199. Its the Samsung Syncmaster 2433BW and I have it connected to my Mac Pro and I am quite impressed with it.

As you have this screen can you confirm will it support

1440 x 900 Res?

Samsung SM2433BW or Samsung T240 are now on my mind trying to decide between the 2

Just checked in my settings and support 1440x900 but if im honest it doesnt look particularly good at that resolution compared to it's native. I know 1440x900 is what the Apple sceondary monitor supports though...
 
iwould recommend samsung. i have 2333SW and it great 20.000 dynamic contrast ratio. and we use 22 inch ones at work. stunning.

To add to this I was looking at the samsung T240 24" is that as good as the above samsung?

also are any of the above samsung screen glossy or Matt?
 
The Samsung T240 is matt.

Its arguable which screen is better with the 2343BW and the T240. The 2343BW has a higher resolution, which does count for something - your images will look better on a sharper, higher resolution monitor, but theres also other factors below.

I haven't made a detailed comparison between the two, but things you may want to consider is the Contrast Ratio, Brightness, Viewing Angle, Outputs, Power Consumption, Colours Supported (i'm sure they're both 16.7m)
 
Sorry to jump in. Also looking at buying a pair od screens.

These Sammys? DO we know what type of Panel they have?

Is IPS really that much better than a TN?
 
There are 2 differences between the TN and S-IPS, firstly colour accuracy and second viewing angle. Go and have a look in the apple store and compare a 20" imac with a 24" imac, the 20" is TN and the 24 is S-IPS
 
I went for a Dell 2408WFP in the end and it such a cracking monitor and to be honest I have found it much better than the 24" iMac the colour etc are more to what they should be
 
£445 it cost me and it such a cracking monitor really is and it put my MBP screen to a shame it really is better than my MBP Screen
 
Yeah your thinking of the cheaper Dell I got a semi pro dell it Dell 2408WFP it a Ultrasharp Monitor really is fab

I must say I have had a ISP panel and a VA panel which is the Dell 2408WFP and in all honestly I have set both monitor up properly and come to my shock Dell hit it hard on the colour is what I see printed that match what on screen. Really is a lovely monitor
 
No IPS not really the way forward they are good but I have found my Dell 2408WFP which is VA panel and I honestly say I found it better than the IPS I have had before.

In all honesty the Dell 2408WFP Is a CRACKING monitor you wont be let down
