Ok, I have a few lenses that I don't really use and in the process or selling to buy something that I will actually use. Currently in my sell list is the 24-105 f4L and 70-300 f4-5.6. I got the first with my 6D kit and its just a beast with a focal range I don't really use that often. I find myself using the 40mm or 50mm prime instead. As far as the 70-300mm its just annoying slow to focus and noisy not my cup of tea even tho its not a bad lens. I really would like a 70-200 F4L mostly because second hand they are pretty cheap light and quiet focusing. I will be losing 100mm so that is where my question really comes in... If I do get an extender I get more reach with a higher F number and more cost so are there any other lenses I should be thinking about for a bit more reach? Or do I just stick with the 200mm as 98% of my photos are within that range and I can't be bothered carrying around a 100 pound worth of kit.

I have the 70-200 F4L non-IS and it's a really nice lens - superb quality and very light to carry around. I have a longer lens, but the inconvenience of carrying the significant extra weight means I usually don't bother and just manage with the 200mm max on the zoom. Extenders are going to slow down the AF considerably, and a 2x would probably not AF at all, so if 98% of what you do is covered by the zoom you could probably get away with cropping in to get the extra reach.
