Hey Guys.
Bit of help needed please. :bang: :bonk: lol
Taking photos on my 400d and whenever I come to upload them to this website there always too large!
What can I do to make them smaller, apart from changing the picure quality on my camera?
Thanks People
Gary120190 :) :D

Put them into photoshop or something similar. Make them 800x600 (or 800 on the longest side) and no more than 200kb in size.

If you have photoshop, use save for web and put in these sizes. save that and use it for your web pics.

Hi Gary, I use a freeware programme called Faststone Photo Resizer. You can download it from Majorgeeks.com. It allows you to change filenames and save in a different location, add a border or watermark and choose which size you want, all as a batch too. One I would not be without.

And your animated signature image is breaking the rules in 2 ways - oversize and animated so please remove it :)
....

AND.... it's getting on my nerves!! :D

This sounds like the best idea!
Any chance you could find a link for me for the Faststone Photo Resizer.
Thanks Mate

Ok
I have worked out the sizing bit, how do you do the borders etc lol :)

I usually resize to about 600 pixels and for web use they look fine. That's how I do mine for here and Flickr. To add a quick border click on the borders tab and choose one of their default ones. It's nothing like as good as you can get in photoshop but for a quick process it works a treat.

Some of my TIFF files are 50 meg so for use here I'm lucky if I'm using 1% of the original image, but they still look OK to me. :)

read the first item in the link I gave above.

There are two sizes to worry about - how many pixels wide/high is the first one to do (800 max for the forum) then when you save the file you adjust the compression to get the file size below 200k (only if you want to use your TP gallery space - the file (kb) size does not matter if using another web host).
