Hi

I need to find some locations in windsor greta park has anyone shot there that could give me general Map references or grid references so I can go on the hunt, will be with a model so if you have shot there I will not be out to steal anyones thunder with composure ...

I just need some general nice scenery and I am close to windsor great park but have never really had the pleasure of walking through there.

Just go there, park-up and wander around.
If you live close, what's the problem?

Go...
Do a recce...it's part of the job...

9 miles with no door to door transport is the problem, should of been more specific , the model I am using will be driving us there , But I don't like being un prepared :-(

If its a commercial job check with the park that you don't have to pay for a lisence, you do in the royal parks...

Bicycle...? 9 miles will take less than 30 minutes.

Not helping much , I don't have a bike , never had the need for one.

Glad to see you are all actually answering my question... Not trying to be funny but

if I said what is 2x2 would you say use a calculator ????

No-one can tell you what locations are right for you - my needs may not coincide with yours.
What looks good to me may not be appropriate for you - get it?

You're going to have to go there and look for yourself.

It's no good any of us saying "this location is great" only for you to turn up with the model and find it's no good...

So... you don't have a car, or a bike - there's bus, taxi and mates with cars to go through next.

And be glad some of us are answering at all - with an attitude like that you'll be lucky to get any more from me.

I understand you feel I have an attitude , thats fine.... I have never come accross with an attitude before , and I agree once mans like might no be another mans like.

But as I said I am not looking for some one elses hard work...

Are you from windsor ? Have you been to windsor great park?

its vast, I was just asking initially and politely for a little help.

and then I get a response why don't you go and find out for yourself.

I thought forums were meant for a community , this has hardly been friendly.

I run my own forum not for photography and none of my mods or members are this hostile.

I thought I was being perfectly reasonable until you came back with that calculator jibe...

You just didn't like what I had to say because it means you have to drag your ass away from the computer and go and do your own leg-work - well too bad - not everyone is going to post something you like.

I think I've explained my reasoning for telling you that only you can decide what's suitable for your images.

Yes I've been to Windsor Great park - on a number of occasions - and yes, it's vast.
So really you have no option but to check it out for yourself if you're going to approach this properly...

well its not as easy as stepping away from my computer. I am not a full time photographer.

I work during the day (using a computer), I am just helping out a model to practice different styles of images. TF not publicising

and yes I guess with people in the world like yourself I am going to have to go and do it for myself... but if I could help someone then I certainly would and do..

what has this world come too.

I'm afraid I'm pretty much with Arkady on this one. IMO you're not being specific enough about what you need for anyone to be a real help - it's a massive area and I'd class pretty much all of it as falling into the class of "general nice scenery" :D

If you don't have chance to check it out yourself before you go there then I guess I'd suggest just heading down the A332 out of Windsor as there are a few car parks along that stretch of the road and there's a fair variety of scenery as well :)

I am helping you...
You seem to have confused the word 'help' with the phrase 'do it all for you and hand it to you on a plate'...

I'm helping you by explaining that you will actually have to go there yourself - what part of this do you not get?
I've explained very patiently what you need to do - if you don't like it, then fine.

Arkady I am going to cease paying any remote attention to your hostile posts. You like every other internet hero is not going to get goaded into retaliating.

Try looking at Google Earth and the blue squares. A lot of them are now accurately placed so you can get a pretty good idea as to where they were actually taken.

Look at Flickr and search for the location - you should be able to find where the pics were taken from.

Get a good map of the place and see what that shows you. If you know what time you'll be there, you can even work out where will be nicely lit (weather permitting) and where'll be in shadow.

I guess your right, I heard of a website where people post pics of general locations for example to help other togs out, I was just under the impression from past experiences this forum being a good help.

I thought maybe someone in there wisdom would say check out this site or maybe tell me how they have source a location etc...

can help but get people who wanna be hostile and internet heros...

Make me laugh really would love to meet half of them , wouldn't be heros no more.

Oh excellent - well bring it on.
I'm on leave at the moment, just back from 6 months in Afghanistan.
This is me:

51°26'46.40"N 0°38'16.11"W

51°27'26.40"N 0°37'5.49"W

are the car-parks I referred to in my previous post. 1st one gives you easy access to an area with some lovely old oaks, 2nd is far more open. As you'll see, they're both very close to each other so if one doesn't suit, it's not going to take all that much time to get to the other :)

If you check on Google Earth with the panoramio option ticked there are some photos from around that area which will give you a basic idea what to expect.

Edit:

Forgot to mention that there are sometimes some bloody enormous cows in the first location

Also, that whole road is covered by street view, which is going to be about as good as you can get without actually going there ;)

Nice one , I served In 3 Para from 99 to 2004 , you think you serving in Afghan scares me. I was in Iraq in 2003 I have been in a war environment.

See what I mean about hostile , if you thought with you brain for 2 seconds and not your rifle then you would hear exactly what you sound like...

You really wanna meet I am happy to arrange

Some terrible arm cropping going on there.......:exit:

On a serious note Rob, glad your back safe and sound ;)

(sorry for hijacking the thread!)

Sigh

pack it in girls, or get a room. Robs old enough to have served in WW2. All this willy waving isn't going to impress anyone.

Rob is right, you need to go and see locations as everyone is different.

Christ, you're like every other Para I've ever met...bloody solid...

No wonder you couldn't understand I was trying to be helpful...

What exactly are the sort of images you're hoping to get...?
You might find Virginia Water is a lot better - quieter, more secluded and with accessible water features... and there'll be no issues with permits...

And since I know you can read a map unless you were commissioned:

N51 24'35.68
W 0 35'28.39

Takes you to the main car-park.

Solid hahahaha not heard that in a while , Hat  jokes

thanks for the cords

No worries - I worked with 3 Para in Helmand throughout the Summer of 2006 when it all went a bit cheeky - great blokes. They had a worrying propensity for naked gun-fights when Terry attacked the compound at Sangin every night though - upset the RAF team-leader we were lumbered with...lol

Be glad you weren't with 3 Para Signals , the straightest blokes in the Reg  (cooooeeeee)

some very weird characters in 3 Para but I enjoyed myself.

I was 3 Para Recce , Loved it but I met a girl and got a Job working as a network engineer !

Haven't really looked back to be honest. Thought about 4 Para but I wouldn't wanna take a pay cut when I went on Maneuvers

Latest news......two of the queens finest will duel in Windsor Great Park. Tickets at the gate.

Feather dusters and tickling sticks only allowed.

<--- ex boys brigade and scout.

Robs old enough to have served in WW2.

We knew he was old but until he posted that picture, we didn't realise he was that bleedin' ugly!

I heard it was 3 Para Mortar platoon that were a bit light on their feet..hey ho...

I was 2PWRR Recce before this current incarnation - so glad I'm not doing that any more - was out with the Brigade Recce Group this time round and it was lot more like hard work than I remember...lol
Met some lads there who were in the Legion (2 REP and 3 REI) at the same time as me as well, so it was quite like being at home...

Media Ops TA (MOG(V)) would be my options after i get out in December, but they're complete tw&ts...had to work with some of them in Bastion this year - not a happy experience...
