Need LP-E6 batteries ASAP

I'm going to France for three weeks on the 23rd of May, and I intended to get a few spare batteries for my camera, as I won't have access to mains (driving around and camping) I went on 7dayshop today to order the third party batteries, and they are out of stock.

Any good alternatives? Need them as soon as possible as I'm leaving on the 23rd, and I'm also going to Cornwall tomorrow until next Saturday, so I don't have much spare time at the moment.

I've found some on Amazon, a little more expensive but still far cheaper than the Canon official ones, any opinions? Or other suggestions?

Also, quite a long shot, but if anyone has any third party or otherwise LP-E6 batteries (5dmk2, 7D etc) they could loan me for the three weeks, I'd happily pay for the time borrowed, postage etc as I really need them ASAP.

If you're driving around, maybe look at getting a cheap invertor so you can power mains equipment off the car, namely the original Canon battery charger?

I've been looking at these, but I've read quite a few horror stories on amazon reviews, which has slightly put me off. Messing up the car's electrics etc...

I also need my lighter slot for my GPS, so I'd have to get a socket multiplier thing which would convert my one slot into two. Would this affect it?
 
I've been waiting for these to come back in stock as it says they register correctly with the body. I also have a slightly more expensive Maxim ones from Amazon which also is decoded but doesn't have a serial number so doesn't register with the camera properly. Haven't had it long enough to know if it holds up after repeated charging yet, but it does work OK. I also have the 7Dayshop ones too. That seems fine. Will update this thread once it arrives.

I use a Delkin LPE6 equivalent, it's more expensive than the Power Planet version but so far, I've found it to be about the same as the Canon battery. Wharehouse Express apparently have them in stock.

I bought the camera and the Delkin battery at Focus in March, so it's too soon to give a long term comparison, but so far so good.

How long have you been waiting for them to be back in stock may I ask?

I'm also waiting for a lens hood for my 17-55 f2.8 to be back in stock too, they aren't the quickest company.

Take a look around, that's the first I came across. I think I googled lp-e6 cigarette charger..

They were in stock beginning of March, I looked again mid April and they were out of stock, and just bought one since you posted the link... ;)
 
Never actually used an invertor myself but I'd imagine they're fairly safe unless you put too much load on them. Understand you not wanting to risk it but a battery charger would draw so little current that I doubt it'd be a problem. That said, if you can get a dedicated car charger for £12-13 then may as well go that route.

BTW, I totally forgot to mention about that after-market 17-55 hood I had - I did look for it but never found it, sorry I forgot to get back to you about it.
 
I use a Delkin inverter, and it is superb. Keep below the load and you are fine. Basically you buy one inverter, and then you don't need to buy umpteen ciggy chargers. One for the phone, one for the wife's phone, one for the ipod, one for the LP-E6, one for.....
 
As promised, an update on the batteries. I have a Maxim one, 7DayShop one and now a PowerPlanet one. The ONLY one of these which registers with the camera is the Power Planet one. The others don't register with the camera. Additionally, the Maxim is actually a 7.4V 2100mAh capacity whilst the others are all 7.2V 1800mAh. IMHO, the outer casing on the Maxim and PowerPlanet ones are identical (even down to the cheap plastic covers for the contacts).
