Need Opinions on possible purchase today

I am looking at purchasing the following today and wondered if anyone had any experience of them and if they were worth it ......... not looking at doing full time macro photos and already have a raynox but want to be able to be a bit further a way.......

KENKO Auto Ext Tubes

The Kenko auto Ext tubes are great but will not increase your working distance, in fact they will make it closer.

The x2tc I have not used but I have used the sigma 1.4tc with a full set of extension tubes with my macro lens and have found I have no noticeable loss of IQ.

I take it you do realise the above teleconvertor only autofocus's with lenses faster than F4? if the lens is slower ie F5.6 for instance the autofocus wont work.

For close to that money (roughly £320) you could get a tamron SP 90 DI macro that will also double up as a damn good portrait lens

Yes, in all honesty the most used lens I owned, it remained on my camera most of the time.

I not only used it for macro where its world class, but also for portraits which it handles extremely well and general street shooting.

Its a lovely piece of glass and one I would still own had I not had to change formats.

This is a portrait I took with it, click the image to get it full size and you can see how sharp the lens is even wide open at F2.8
