I have just ordered a new canon Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM Lens to fit on my 550D. I have a Lowe pro TLZ 10 or 20 at the moment which is a very close fit for camera with my current kit lens fitted.
Im going to Australia soon and don't have time to wait for the new lens to come to find out exactly how big i need a new bag to be, so would like some recommendations for a new bag of a similar type to fit inside a normal rucksack rather than be carried on its own. If it makes a difference i will have a hood fitted in reverse as well.

It's much much bigger than you will need. But I recently got the lowepro vertex 300. And I can say it's an amazing bag. I can fit everything I will ever want into it, I can carry my iPad and Macbook. And all of my accessories.

I could also use the laptop part to carry a Camelbak, which is something which I will do. As ex forces, I think this is brilliant. All the zips are weather sealed, which will protect your gear. It is off the same standard as a top end daysack - which means it is built to last. It is very very comfortable, and has a waste strap and all the other things you would expect from a top end bag.

I got mine cheap from amazon (no raincover, but no dramas for me, as I will just use one of the covers I have from my old bergen). However I would pay the asking price, having used it and seen it.

Thanks for the reply. I just had a look at the bag and it looks decent. But I don't have the gear (yet lol) and im not keen on carrying something that looks just like a camera bag when im away traveling (wary about having it snatched)

Just posting an update incase anyone is searching in the future it fits in a toploader 50 AW nicely with enough space that its not a hassle to get the strap in as well.
