Ok, have had my Sony Alpha 200 with the standard 18-70 3.5-5.6 lens that it came with for about 6 months now, and after many fun days taking photos of the Scottish scenery and felt content with it.

But I fear that the lens I currently have, will not be up to taking photo's of local events (Shinty, Football and Rugby) which is an area I would love to get in to at the moment.

So what kind of lens should i be looking at for a Sony Aplha 200, and what price range (ideally not wanting to spend anymore than £200, but being Scottish would like to see the bargins....;)

yeah forgot to say that it's only for a hobby at the mo and some of the photos will be for local sides websites so not needing pro level. The games I'm able to make are very much amuteur level so getting close to the sidelins is not a problem.

if its just for urself - have a look at the sony 70(75)-300, it was my first longish lens and managed at motox events! obviously you cant expect the same quality as the likes of a 70-200 f2.8, but its only around £150ish.

I have a Tamron 18-200mm and it's pretty good for stuff like this! I've not really used it for much other than pictures of birds and animals so far though (which it is excellent at) as my 28mm prime completely pwns it in that department :p

Here is a shot of a seagull in flight which I took. Bit of a crap photo but should give you an idea of what to expect from this lens :)

And a close up. No movement though so probably not much use to you :p

Hope this helps.

Cheers for the info guys, have narrowed it down to 2/3 lenses just finding the best deal.

Thanks Again
