Hi all
i've been lurking for some time on these forums and you lot always seem to give great advice so...
Firstly i'm not sure were i fit in to this hobby other than i've always liked cameras and im a bit (ok a lot) obsessive about taking pic's of my other hobby's of Land Rovers, Motor bikes and shooting (clay pigeon) but im for ever taking the same pic's lol (told you im obsessive) i could just be walking back to my Defender from a shop etc and think Ooo she looks good from this angle and snap snap snap another load of pic's lol then ill keep looking at them on my laptop thinking should have moved that or stood there etc etc (have i got a problem lol) i currently use my iphone which is at best a bad camera buit i did have a 450D but due to my business struggling in the down turn had to sell a few toys. anyway things have turned around again and we are doing well now so time to buy another camera...
I had been looking at the compact system cameras but i ended up buying a nice Canon compact for the wife for Christmas as she's always snapping shots of our 3yr old Daughter so now leaving me open to maybe buying another DSLR..
Ive been going around the shops and playing with them all, been doing this a lot recently (obsessive) and 99.9 percent sure i want a Nikon this time as they just feel right to me when tried back to back with the others out there Cannon, Sony etc. I was pretty sure that the 3100 18-55mm kit was the way to go for me but now im not so sure as seems a lot of people are useing the D90 and seems used ones (body only) are similar money to a new 3100 and from what i've read kit lenses are not all that and a 18-70mm is a good all round lens..
So i thought right buy a used D90 and a used 18-70 (found a mint one locally for £125 one owner all boxed up filter on from day one etc, but now im thinking do i really need a D90 will i need all the gizmo's on it? i have seen some other D models on here recently for £200 or less such as a D60 so now really confused as to what to buy and if i really need to spend D90 money.
The older cameras seem to have a lower magapixel but should this worry me as the pictures ive seen from them look very sharp.
im thinking i could buy say a D60 and the 18-70 for around £300 or a D90 and same lens for about £550 or a new 3100 body and 18-70 for about £500 but not sure I'll get any better results from the extra outlay..
