Negative lab pro

Quick question for any users. Does negative lab pro essentially just invert the negative? When I use film I use black and white 90% of the time. I have a preset saved in capture 1 that inverts the scan on import. It works well for it being free but the exposure is nearly always off and it is a bit of a faff.
It would mean I’d have to get Lightroom.

I would like to use a bit more colour from time to time so wondering if it would offset the scanning costs.

It does invert the negative (unless you're scanning positive film), but it has a lot more going for it than that, essentially adding a whole range of profiles and controls to manage the result.

There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get to grips with it it's very powerful. I've used it for a few years now and been very satisfied with it.

This is what it looks like in Lightroom:

Is this an up to date version of Capture One?

The latest version includes a Negative conversion tool. This is a newly developed tool and not simply the existing C1 negative conversion tool from the Heritage and Culture version of Capture One ported into the Pro version.

If you haven't noticed this tool, it might be worth having a look before switching to LR and Negative Lab Pro

A comparison between the C1 tool and negative lab pro is here

Oh, I thought it was only with the heritage one. I’ll have to have a look.
