Negative Scanner Recommendations Please!

Hi,

I'm a lover of film photography and am looking to buy a scanner for my negatives. I only really need it for 35mm, I dont have a huge budget being a student so something reasonably priced would be great! If anyone knows of what not to buy/ or have tried some scanners and would recommend one I would really appreciate the info!

I have a Canoscan 8800F

Had it a few years now but I know it didn't cost a fortune.

I've scanned all sizes of negatives with it...35mm, 120, 127, and sheet feel although I have had to "stitch" the sheet film scans togeher to get the final image!

Possibly and probably not the best of negative scanners but it does the job just fne for me!
 
Have a look in the film and conventional section of the forum, we have lots of discussion there about scanners.

Me to. Used it to scan all my negs and it did a pretty decent job. It's been replaced by the 9000F and I'm sure it will do a decent job to, for a decent price.
 
Great thanks for all ur help everyone! Will look into the 8800F i think, might drop a few hints since we're near xmas..
 
As a poor student maybe a decent flatbed would be best, at least that way it can also be used for other stuff.

I personally use a Plustek OpticFIlm 7200, a dedicated negative scanner. It's OK, but I'd rather have a 7800 but that's over £200!
