Hi all,

Hoping someone can point me in the direction of a good negative/slide scanner. Am after one for my Dad for christmas who has boxes full of negatives etc. I am happy to admit that I know nothing about these things! It will be used with a mac computer and my budget is £100 max.

I cannot recommend a specific scanner however I suggest you check the specifications for a absolute minimum resolution of 1800 dpi which will translate into an approximate resolution of 300 dpi for 4x6 print. A resolution of 2700 dpi will result in a usable print of 8x10". A dynamic resolution of 3.2 is a good starting point. I don't think you will find an inexpensive film/slide scanner that will list the dynamic resolution at your price point.
I have thousands of 35mm color slides and have been slowly scanning them for several
years now. After a while it can become a little frustrating since scanning is only the first step to get a good print. Post processing comes next.
