Neofinder is a low cost ($40) DAM which has just added (march 2026) a new feature that may be of interest here:
Neofinder is a serious DAM, capable of cataloguing everything, not just photographs (at least I suspect everything). It has a slightly old fashioned feel to it, but is very versatile, regularly updated, and has fantastic technical support. I have my archive drives catalogued (emails, documents, photographs etc) so I can search them without them being attached to the computer.
They added file ingestion tools in a recent release, and I found a bug that only affected a specific way of renaming files on ingest and suggested an addition to the auto-building folder structure choices on ingest. About a week later they emailed a "dev" version of the program with the bug fixed and folder options added. This isn't the first time I have suggested some additions, and on at least three occasions I have been running a "dev" version for weeks until the changes are added to the public release.
I have no affiliation with the company, just think it's a good product.
It's Mac only, but here is a Windows version available, which runs behind the Mac version in capability and currently doesn't list this feature as being available

- Metadata context menu has a command to invert a photo thumbnail in the catalog, if you are using scanned color negatives
