Hello all.

Although not new to photography, I am new to these forums so, if what I'm asking is 'old hat' my apologies.

Neoprene lens covers. I have a number of lenses (Canon) and being expensive I'm bordering on the paranoid about dust & cleanliness.

I've been looking at a number of sights including 'fleaBay' at neoprene covers.

Are they 1. Any good as a means of protection?
2. As a result, worth the cost. (For my lenses i'm looking at over £200 to get mine done).
3. Do they offer any form of rain protection OR absorb and therefore trap water?

I note that most are camouflaged. Thats not of importance to me as although I do a lot of bird photography (feathered variety), I've not had issues with birds being put off by 'Canon White' be it shooting in the open or otherwise. It is purely for protection.

If I go for it I'm inclined towards Wildlife Watching Supplies.

Your comments would be appreciated.

I have the WWS supplies cover for both my 300 2.8 and tripod. They are well made and fit well. I went with camo as why not seeing as I will be out photographing wildlife but they also do a white/black reversible option if that's what you want.

It won't help with waterproofing, but it doesn't mean it doesn't get scratched up by bushes and the odd small knock.

Thanks Chris. Do you have a photo available of the tripod cover(s)?

i have one for my 50-500 sigma and a rain cover to oh and i still use the old polly bag over the lens trick now and then

Order placed via WWS for 500mm, 70-200 & 300. Don't seem to make them for smaller lenses like 180mm or 24-70?

Just had one since the new year and the windows where the switches are is going yellow not happy with this on my 300 2.8 mk2 from Wex
That can happen with the plastic windows on the think tank camera and lens covers, just clean it with T cut or an even finer polish

lens coat do most lenses but on smaller lenses I suspect they'd be annoying and end up getting taken off.

Yes I think your right. I've spoken to Kevin at WWS. He'll make covers to order for the same price if measurements are sent. I'm minded for the smaller ones to get all-in-ones that protect camera & lens. Thanks for your views
