Netflix on PS4 5.1 sound?

Not sure if this correct forum but seems best bet.

Ive got ps4 and pay for netflix HD which claims to support HD and 5.1 surround. Netflix is on the ps4. I have a surround sound (AV) amplifier connected to the ps4. Games play surround no problems. However netflix programs/films only ever produce sound from the front even when it says 5.1 in the program details.

Anyone managed to get it to work properly?

had this myself on netflix progams a while ago when i was doing some demo work.
issue i had was a lot of the netflix stuff is output in dobly digital plus which is a different standard to dolby digital and i suspect your older ps4 will not decode it.

actually re-read you have an AV amp doing the decoding so it could be eithere the PS4 cannot send the sream properly as well as the amp, how old is the amp?

amp is about 4 years old I think. Ps4 is one of the early ones.

Just over a week ago , I got a ps4 and now looking to get rid I just hate it, I have the same problem with sound and the menu system is crap

I think Ive sorted it by attaching an optical sound feed from the ps4 to the amp then selecting optical out in the ps4 settings. sound comes from the rear speakers if I stand next to them and put my ear up against them. An improvement of sorts.
