well while I'm on this forum see if you can help with this please.

Had a home network set up for years all ok, last week went to print via network to printer on computer in the office as usual, but cannot connect, have tried restarting everything, including router, have done system restore on office computer, which is where i think the problem may lie as this is connected to the network but will not connect to the internet, but will print directly to the printer so the printer is working. Running out of walls to bang my head against!!

cheers
Jon

Any recent changes?
Firewall that needs configuring to allow network sharing?

not that i know of Gramps, other 3 computer in house are happily using the network online etc. the office one is showing good connection to network but will not go online and no other computers access the printer through it.:bang:

Do you have static ip set up on the pc's?

How is the printer shared? Is it hanging off a USB lead on the office computer or is it a network printer?

Is this office computer still physically connected to the network - via wire or wireless, nothings been knocked out has it?

Do you know how to do some basic network tests/checks?

Check your ip address [ipconfig]

Test basic connectivity [ping]

office computer suddenly went back on line without doing anything, printed about 5 pages out of 15 then stopped and lost connection with printer it seems, office computer is still online but painfully slow.:bonk:

id say something is interferring with your wireless.

how far from your router is the computer? could you run a network cable and turn off the wireless as a temporary test?

thanks Neil, might try switching channel.
