It gets worse, that's with a 18-50mm lens and no cropping !

Stunning shot. Buy him/her a 5D now!

:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

That is a great shot (y) So congrats to the 8 yr old!

Absolutely superb shot. Stunning :clap::clap::clap:

AWESOME!!! :notworthy: :LOL: :LOL: :D

I'd be telling myself it was a fluke!!
That's what I keep saying.
Here's another from the same series, this one's cropped and sharpened though.

18-50 OMG that is good :clap:

Don't you just hate it when that happens. :LOL:

Kids see things as they are, us photogs sometimes look to hard for the shot that is in fact staring us in the face. That's my excuse:bang:

For an 8 year old, they are fantastic shots. It'll be Xmas soon - maybe a SLR should be on their wish list :LOL:

Fortunatley, I don't have kids but based on this I'm damn sure I'm going to keep the camera out of the cat's reach. That would destroy me.

Are you going to tell us whether it was in Automatic or Manual? :crying:

I set it up on aperture priority 5.6 100 iso with auto focus. It was a reasonably bright day and in the middle of nowhere. I doubt if this youngster had seen people much if at all before
and it let us get real close.
You're right about the Chrismas cards Marianne, I hadn't thought of that !

Wonderful! That hopefully will have the youngster hooked for life on photography trying to match it! Let my 7yr old grandson have a go with mine on a previous visit and posted his robin and his first words on coming in the door after a 175 mile trip down from Ripon was "can we watch birds Pops? " and then spen most of his visit with a little compact taking photos round the garden . . . I know what is on his birthday list!
