Neverwet Spray for DSLR?

I'm sure some of you have seen the viral videos of
Neverwet superhydrophobic Spray. I wonder if anyone has tried to apply it to DSLRs yet?

Have any of TP's American users had any experience of it yet? Is there any conceivable downside to using it on a DSLR or Lens? If it worked it would be a god-send to people who shoot outdoors in our wonderful summers.

I'm considering importing a couple of cans for this purpose but would like to see if its been tried yet.

If your camera isn't already watertight or air tight then I would imagine the spray would find its way into your camera's body or into the lens itself.

The outside surfaces of a camera/lens are already 100% waterproof. The problem is when the water gets inside.

Water doesn't get through the surfaces, it gets through the gaps.

I use and have used non-weather sealed gear out and about in the rain. Only this morning I was using my X00s in a downpour!

I don't see any real use for this. But can you imagine ingesting it, and your body losing the ability to soak up liquids!?

Yes, stay prepared for legal proceedings, if you sell it as "Camera Neverwet Spray"...

This stuff has been out for quite a while. Completely pointless in a camera as it has a half life of a few months I believe. They were trying to market it to the military last time I checked as it would be beneficial to clothing and boots etc

Where did I say I was planning to sell it?

I dunno about Canon and other brands, but Nikon don't claim that their cameras are 100% weather sealed but rather moisture and dust resistant to an unstated degree. A 100% weather proof camera/lens combo would need to be airtight.

The advantage of this for me would be that no rain would sit on the cameras. It would bead and roll off immediately. When shooting in adverse conditions before I've had to completely dry the camera off before I was confident enough to change lenses indoors afterwards. I'm sure that less moisture being on the body would reduce the chances of it penetrating the seal. Having to re-coat every month or two wouldn't bother me at all.

A good friend experienced 'fogging' after shooting in the rain with a nikon D4 attached to a sealed lens.
