Yes
Well it arrived today:D, read the manual whilst waiting for the battery to charge and it does not seem as daunting as first thought reading the 7D owners thread, looking forward to getting out tomorrow and using it.

My 3rd party grip also arrived with two 3rd party batteries but there seems to be a problem with them.
When the battery that came with the camera charged it went from one flash to two flashes then to three then the green light to say it was fully charged, but when i have tired to charge the 3rd party batteries the light just flashes orange constantly, not 1 then 2 then 3 per second i am talking constantly.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so what was the problem??

IIRC it will be because they are not "chipped", do they still show the charge in the camera ?, if not you will just have to estimate when they are flat.

I have only ever used genuine batteries when I had the 7d, also using the same battery in the 5D .

Hi Mal

Did not stick them in the camera but just have now and they are showing the battery charge in the camera as about 3/4 full.

It is the non chipped copies that do not communicate with the camera from what I recall, maybe it is just not communicating with the charger. before they overcome the chipping they would come with their own chargers.

That is all I know have you tried googling the problem?

Do they show the charge performance in the menu ?

Will look at that as well.

Yes they do they show up as a LP-E6 battery the amount of charge left in them how many shots have been taken and recharge performance so all good there

All batteries come with an initial charge, hope you are not just reading that in the camera and the charger is actually doing it's job.

only left the batteries in the charger for a few seconds as knew something was not quite right, so not enough time to get them 3/4 charged.

Probably they're not chipped to show with the Canon charger. It might be worth getting a back up charger from ebay for around a fiver. The non chipped batteries seem to charge fine with them, but they should charge ok in the Canon charger but wont show the charging lights.

I tried to charge the batteries again tonight and left it in for around 1/2 hour and nothing, infact it actually went down a little lol.

I Have emailed the seller and just waiting to see what he is going to do about it, if nothing I will try one of the other chargers till I can afford a proper canon grip and batteries

I have just bought a second charger
I bought an ebay cheapo, this seems to have fixed the charging issues with my ebay cheapo battery that didn't work on the canon charger
So if you have pooh cheapo batteries get the pooh cheapo charger to go with them lol

I bought 3rd party batteries from 7dayshop, they work fine with the original canon charger, last for ages & report correctly in the camera

I got some from there for my 7D but they are no longer in Guernsey and will not post batteries to Guernsey from the UK unless I pay ridiculous postage costs

Well they got back to me and said it was very strange and they had never heard of this before so wanted pics of the bar code from the packaging which I have sent and they are sending me another battery to try and if that one works they will send another for me.

Cannot say fairer than that to be honest

My 3rd party 7 battery works fine with my 7D

I've got two third party batteries that work fine, but don't always charge fine... They seem to hold their charge relatively well, but when communicating with the charger they will occasionally appear fully charged but actually only have 3/4s charge.
