I've just purchased a new Sony 70-300mm SSM G, so i'm now in need of a new bag. I havent got a great deal of equipment, so i'm not after anything to big however it DOES need to be big enough to hold my A700 with the 70-300 connected.

Any recommendations :shrug:

With the hood reversed, the body & lens measures just under 9 inches.
With the hood fitted correctly the body & lens measures just under 12.5 inches.


Also require space for:

Sigma 18-50mm
Tamron 90mm Macro
A set of extension tubes
360AFD Flash
 
If you're looking for a backpack the Canon 200EG would probably be ideal for you. Shameless plug, but I've got one for sale on fleabay! It was able to hold two XXD bodies (one of which had the 70-200 f/2.8 attached), my wide angle, and a couple of other lenses.

But it's pretty obvious that it is a camera bag - so it is potentially a target for thieves.

Small bag, but holds a lot of gear.

I can't recommend any others as I haven't used or tried any others.

I can say, however, that Lowepro make excellent quality bags so you can't go wrong with any of their offerings if they fit.

Jessops currently have a voucher code on the go that gives you 10% of bags so might be able to save some money there.

The best "small" bag I could find was the Think Tank Photo "Street Walker" which will take my 7D fitted with a 70-200 f2.8 (hood reversed).

Available for around £100 and excellent quality.

Had a quick look into the 'Flipside' bags, and i think the 'Flipside 300' would be an ideal bag (over the 400). Jessops have currently got them up for £42. Trying 24hrs in the 'Wanted' section, before i go out for a brand new one ;).
