hi all.

what is the best way of going about photographing new born kids?
I would like to use natural light.

thanks for reading.

Nice wide aperture and shallow depth of field seem to be the usual choice, and for natural light you will probably need that anyway. Otherwise keep the eyes sharp and see if you can get any good facial expressions.

Aside from that, are they still in hospital? i saw a really great set on here once where several photos of the hospital itself were taken, stuff like the 'maternity ward' sign, heart rate monitors etc. All to set the scene and as a collection they really worked.

not in hospital!!! went in at 3am home with baby by 7.30am.

thanks for that, will try over the weekend.
Ben.

waters had broken on thurs, but dilation was so slow they kept kicking us out. turned out in the end the only way Oscar could have been delivered was by C-section..

hi ben, congratulations on the little one. My little boy is about 9 weeks old now and real joy to have around. Heres a thread with a few baby pics of my little one. Hopefully you might find some inspiration from them. The processing on one shot is a bit blah, but I blame the sleep deprivation! :D
