Help!! Ive scared myself, bought a new kit from a girl at work which im over the moon with! but its been in my car all day (till half 7) now got home, brought it in to have a look at and EVERYTHING is getting covered in condensation from the temprature change!

Im really worried the water/damp will damage my new pride and joy? what shall I do with it?

For those interested I got a Canon 40D, Grip, Canon 17-85IS and a SLik 700 tripod kit.

It's fine, just dry it off for a while, take the battery out, open it up etc and it'll soon go away.

In the future, if your kit has gotten really cold, let it acclimatise (or however you spell it) before opening it up, leave it in the bag until it's all at the same temperature, and that'l help to minimise the condensation!

Yeah i keep wiping it off, it normally would be in a bag and left in a bag, but coz she gave it to me today its just in its orginal box etc, even the tripod legs are drenched at the moment!

I think I just panicked that I would break it! best camera ive ever owned!

Hah! I did a similar thing yesterday. Picked up a new lens from the post office and left it in the car all day but couldn't wait to unwrap it when I got home - spent about an hour wiping condensation off :cuckoo:

Enjoy your new camera

I just want to add to the voices saying that everything should be fine.

A couple of weekends ago I was walking in the hills with my camera and at times the snow was to the top of my legs, my jeans were frozen solid from mid calf down when I got home and at times my non weather sealed camera looked like a block of ice and at others it was running with condensation...but it survived and I hope that yours does too!

thanks guys, all was well, i think i just panicked watching the best camera ive ever owned getting wet and I couldnt stop it!! lol

All is well though and im over the moon with it! cant wait to get out and explore with it!!

In cold weather when I'm out and about doing jobs everytime I go inside somewhere I get condensation - the only problem is hanging about till everything warms up. Just let it warm up naturally - it'll do it no harm - do NOT use a hair dryer to speed it up - you could melt bits!
