Hi just recently I had the miss fortune of camera error on my Sony a450 , so question is do I ditch Sony get rid of all lens to generate some fund for new camera or save and stay with Sony , also what about second hand Sony , any suggestions would be welcomed , current kit 85mm minolta g lens,don't 35mm,50mm all primes, tokina 11-16 , tamron 50-250mm
 
given the glass that you have I would stay with Sony.
afaik Tamron don't do a 50-250mm though ... (guess that you mean 18-250?).

Have you had the A450 looked at?
 
Agree, with all the lenses you have and the fact you were presumably happy with the Sony before it failed then another Sony would make sense.

The A700 is still a nice camera but they are holding their price fairly well, or you could look at the newer models if you have nothing against an EVF and some of them are nice and compact if that is an advantage to you.

No not gone for repair had a bad experience with Sony repair place on a200 so I'm a not got much confidance
 
I'd get a new one if it were me. The A65 has a good all round spec and if you can drop on one in the sony refurb store you can save a packet.

A few camera shops do 0% finance offers which are worth thinking about if you have some money saved but not enough.

I gp mainly landscapes so would the slt be any good
 
ok bit of a up date just been doing at a few bits and camera shoots no problem without any lenses on ! soon as i put it onto manual camera error ???? can anyone recommend a sony service place ? or are they all the same ?
 
Fixation are supposedly ok and there is that place in Norfolk somewhere that have a decent reputation.

J.... and L...... that are both in Stoke are worth avoiding.

When you say 'manual' do you mean manual focus or manual exposure?

So it shoots OK without a lens in A, S, P & Auto?
If you fit a lens does it shoot OK in any mode?

It really should go to Sony at Pencoed who generally have a good reputation (although no doubt like anything if you deal in enough nos. you'll get a few slip ups).

No sorry it shoots ok with no lens in when in m mode , but now won't shoot in any mode so it'd internment

lol what am I like !
Wish I was working tell me what's the replacement for the a450 these days might go through house insurance !
 
You need to decide if you like electronic viewfinders or not before making a decision.
