New Camera - which combo ?

Hi,
I may be able to in a few months time upgrade my camera and get a new lens. I shoot all sorts, macro, birds, planes. Not so much landscape/people. I've always wanted a 7D for the frame rate and also a canon 100-400L lens.

So, with the funds should I go second hand 7D and a new 100-400L MKII lens, or a 7D2 and a second hand 100-400L lens ? or should I think about something else, I don't want to go full frame as I need the crop factor on the lenses I can afford.

Hi Simon

I have the old 100-400 but no 7d. Therefore I can't really comment other than to say normal advice is spend more on the lens than the camera, but I guess it depends on your specific needs. You could go 2nd hand on both and get a macro lens also....
