new camera

ive spent some time thinking about a camera upgrade to a SLR and have no after some time investigating
decided (i think) on a Nikon d3000 with 18-55mm VR Lens

at the moment im taking alot of static close up stuff- to put on a friends site to sell


do you think this is a good camera!

im really a novice but want some advise

Hi & Welcome

I'm a Canon bod myself, but I've read several reviews / test comparisons against the Canon 1000D and both are very closely matched, AP rated the D3000 slightly (few %) higher and it's been highly rated - the D3000 is the new version of the D60.

Hope this helps - I think Nikon also has a slight cashback deal on this model at the moment

Thanks its a mind field trying to get the right camera

its d3000 or d5000 but but there is a price difference and only video capabilty thats in it for me

have a canon now which is great - but think i want to give nikon a go

I have a Nikon D3000 that I am very pleased with it so far. It is a very nicely built lightweight DSLR with a good battery life. Whilst it is quite small I have no problem in operating it with my biggish hands. I think you can get 2 years warranty and £30 cash back at the moment, making it very good value for money.
