Yes
I haven't seen any discussion around these ?

clicky

The 15-85 is supposed to be high quality ?

The 18-135 could be a good walkabout.

Both slow though....

Any comments?

Cheers

18-135 might be a good one to buy/try, ill pass though for now, wait till the second hand value comes down to £200 :)

Yeah I looked at that one (Macro IS) - definitely one on my hitlist. I prefer to use my existing 100mm Macro over the MPE-65 due to its versatility with macro subjects.

On an additional note the price was stated as thus:

'The EF 100mm f2.8 L Macro IS USM lens with be available in September 2009 for about $1,050'

If it is indeed £1k in the UK I'd be better off ordering from the US and using parcel2go's 'US Address' service.

15-85 sounds interesting, about time something like this came out, same for the 18-135.

The new 100mm macro is one of the sexiest looking lens' I've ever seen, if the sneaked photo is anything to be believed.

15-85 looks like a perfect walkabout. Great range and Canon US site describes performance as 'stella'. Shame it's only f/5.6 at the long end though, that's really very slow, but it's already quite big and pricey so I guess any faster wasn't practical. And there's always the 17-55 2.8, which I love, if you want more speed but I wonder what 15-70 f/4 would have looked like.

18-135 is a good new kit option.

100L macro is going to be mega, and the trick new IS interesting. But I can't help thinking that macro is the only time when I don't want either AF or IS. Doesn't everyone do serious macro with manual focus and flash? I'd rather stick with the old 100 2.8 macro at half the price, which isn't exactly soft is it.

Yeah, 24-70L 2.8 with IS would/will be cool some time soon but it's nice to see Canon putting still more serious weight behind EF-S

Because it was seen as a dead cert. One was even claimed to have been sighted.

Perhaps it's been delayed if it's actually going to see the light of day.

Graham

only a dead cert because people on the internet thought is was. rumours are just that rumours.

Yup, but give time and all the lenses will sell below SRP. A lot below SRP.

The macro looks great for bug photography with the clever trick IS system

Apart from Grumpy Badger :) what a lot of grumpy old men on here

They are doing a MKII version of the 70-200mm f2.8 IS as well right?

If you're stalking a butterfly or dragonfly in the field hand-held, the IS will be a tremendous benefit.

this 15-85 IS
I can see why they'd want to improve upon the 17-85 IS as it's bundled with a lot of mid range canon cropped sensor kit and really doesn't do it justice imho
but that is a bit pricey!
