I've had a Ricoh GR Digital 2 for a while and its kinda on the way out, just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of similar quality (or better) compacts?
I mainly use it as a walkaround camera when I don't want to take my slr out...
i use the Panasonic Lumix LX3 as a walkabout compact & i've been very happy with it
full manual control, Raw etc
the Travel Zoom or TZ series are good everyday cameras as long as you want to stay within the programmed modes. much longer zoom than the LX3!
should be some deals going as new ones seem to be coming out quite regularly
apparently the canon S90 is very good also
(never seen or used one but its been mentioned a lot & seems to have a good following :shrug
personally i think the G series are just a tad too big to be an everyday pocket camera
just my opinion
I love my GF1 but I'm not sure I would really describe it as a compact. Fits easily in a jacket pocket with the 20mm pancake but not really a jeans pocket. I do take it everywhere with me though.
Canon S90 and the LX3 were the ones I had my eye on before I decided on the GF1.
