New computer problem

I would be grateful if anyone can shed some light on a couple of problems i am experiencing since installing a new computer with windows 7 on it.

1) I cant post photos using the little icon that you use to insert image (the little box with what looks like 2 mountains or triangles)
When i click on it it just opens for a split second and thats it, have tried it on 3 different forums and its the same on all 3.

2) Installed lightroom 2, which works fine except that i no longer have the lightroom presets on the left hand side, its just empty.

Both of these things worked fine on my old computer, i would be grateful for any suggestions or help, bearing in mind i know very little about the inner workings of a pc, i just use it.

Can't help with 1) as I'm on a Mac

2)You should get the default pre-sets when you load Lightroom. You don't say what version of 2 you have but 2.7 was the latest and last version of the 2 series. If you haven't already download this from the Adobe web site and see if loading this gives you the pre-sets. You might try closing and opening the pre-sets pane to see if this makes any difference.. Have you lost the pre-sets from one module or all?

#1 looks like a browser problem. which browser do you use ? have you tried others ?

It is version 2.7, i unistalled and reinstalled on my older pc and it the lr
presents are there (windows xp)

Tried it on my friends pc with windows 7 and the presets dont appear on his either.
Might borrow a LR 3 disc, if thats ok i will upgrade to that.

Using internet explorer, will try another browser later.

I wonder if it's a 32 bit / 64bit option. As I said I'm on a Mac so can't help to much, but try getting Windows to run it in 32 bit mode. Else download the trial version of 3.
 
Thanks for all your help, but i get a bit lost as i am not that up on the workings of a pc.

However i have managed to turn off the pop up blocker in IE and Stopzilla
but it made no difference, so i just keep the IE one turned off.

With LR2 have managed to find the presents by right clicking on the photo
i have imported and clicking on settings, so although i cant bring the list up
on the left like it used to be, i can use this function.
, i can live with that until i decide wether to go the LR3 route.

My daughters partner is a computer engineer who does it for a living, so i will
give him a visit this weekend. (dont like bothering him too much as everyone goes to him with their problems as soon as they find out what his job is, he likens it to when someone reveals that they are a doctor at a party, everyone
starts revealing their ailments, expecting them to cure them)

When i get it sorted i will post what the problem/cure was.

I would have thought the image posting problem might be because of pop-ups being blocked - rather than the other way around.
 
Up date.
Got the LR presets working now, all had to do was right click on the space where they used to be and tick the presets and up they popped:bonk:

Also got the photo pop up thing working, downloaded firefox and set as my browser. Voila:clap:
