I was going to order some more Eneloop's and noticed they have announced a few days ago they are releasing new versions called the Pro & Plus.
Approximately 25% higher capacity than regular eneloop batteries.
The new addition to the line-up, the “eneloop pro” rechargeable battery with Min. 2400mAh*4, has a 25% higher capacity than the regular eneloop battery with Min. 1900mAh*4. This means that the battery has a longer life than the eneloop and is more suitable for professional use of digital cameras, strobe lights and flashlights etc.
More details are here on the Panasonic website:
Reading the press release I noticed that they have already released an equivalent model of the “eneloop pro” which has been marketed in Europe as “XX (double X)”.
I believe the new XX version are only rated for 500 recharge cycles instead of 1000 or 1500 times (brought out an improved version in Sept 201) for the standard ones.
Now 500 cycles is still ~once a week for ten years, and the extra capacity may be worth the trade off........
I just looked and they do not seem to be widely available and cost more than 25% extra than the standard eneloops (cheapest I could locate was £9.99 for 4 -ebay / £19.99 for 8 - amazon)
Has anyone tried the new XX's or found where to buy them cheaper?
