Hi all,

I am rather stuck at the moment. I am getting £400 back from the tax man and its all going on camera equipment.

I currently have:

D60
18-55mm Nikon VR
50-200mm Nikon VR (arriving shortly I hope)
50mm 1.8 IL-s (totally manual on the D60)

However, I am stuck between deciding whether to sell the D60 and kit 18-55mm lens then put all the money (£700) towards a 2nd hand D90 or a D300 as both are going between £600-700 on ebay.

That would give me a better camera but no lens under 50mm, and the D90 would still be totally manual with the 50mm.

Or should I look at getting a Tripod, Grip, Batteries, flash?

Photography wise I am doing a few weddings as a guest for friends, and more into scenic, architecture and wildlife.

Any suggestions or advice because I am going :cuckoo: right now :D

Hi

In my opinion (which doesn't count for much) I'd go for buying a good quality, fast standard lens. Your D60 is a decent camera and you would notice a difference with better glass.

I think, if you're doing weddings, scenics etc, you'd really miss a wide angle lens and find your remaining lenses far too restrictive.

For £400 you could do worse than invest in a Tamron 17-50 2.8 or (my preference) the Sigma 18-50 2.8. Both lenses would deliver a markedly better performance than Nikon's kit lens and still leave you enough over for a good tripod which would be invaluable for scenics

Hope this helps

D90 would not be manual.

I would go for a d90 kit which gets you the 18-105 which is a decent lens plus keep the 50mm. The d90 or 300 will give you so much more.

According to one site i've found it states the D90 plus AI/AI-S lenses do not meter but if it auto focuses its enough for me.

The question is though, the D90 or the D300?

I can definitely decide on the kit IF I go that route.

I thought AI/AI-S is fully manual focus lens.
But it D300 can use metering on it.
D90 cant though.

All AI/AI-S lenses are manual focus on D-SLR's. :)

cambsno - the OP does not have a 50mm f/1.8 AF-D, they have the older version (MF only).
