New Hard Drive Help

About to stick a new Hard Drive in my macbook, I was going to use my Snow Leopard disk and install, then dump my last backup from Time Machine over. Is there a way I can just plug my external Time Machine drive into laptop and it takes it all from there in one go?

an external drive caddy is less than a tenner and you'll also be able to keep your old drive in it to use as external storage / backup.
