Yes
My internal and both external hard drives are getting very full and I'm thinking of getting a new one.
Can someone tell me if it's ok to buy an internal hard drive and just plug it in to the second drive bay? I am after a second internal drive rather than external because I do video work and it's much quicker from an internal than external. Internals are most cheaper as well. :)

if you have the space inside for it and a compatible port then there shouldnt be a problem.

alternatively an eSATA drive will run at the same speed as an internal if you have the connector.

Thanks for the reply Neil. Another reason wanting an internal is neatness. I have wires, extrnal HDDs etc around my room at the moment and don't really want to add to the mess!

The only thing to watch is that you get the correct type - all internal drives these days have SATA connections, older drives were mainly IDE. Unless the PC is 5-6 old or more then its almost certainly SATA drives.

just built a new system (upgraded from a laptop system) The wire issue i completely understand from with having a 10 port USB hub almost full.

You should be fine to just plug and paly, as mentioned aboved make sure you are not buying a SATA HDD for an IDE motherboard.

Oh and backup, backup backup!
