Yes
I bought my giottos tipod over a year ago and it had served me well, the head came with it as a deal and I knew no better then.
I bought a monopod for me hols with a ball head to go onto it, now I noticed that the base plate on the ball head is way bigger than the base plate on the 3 way.

So if I was to buy a new 3 way or like then Judging by my intuition I need to find one with a bigger base plate as this will equal better stability, is this correct???

What sort of head should I be looking at, I use the tripod for a bit of everything, from wildlife to portrate.

Thanks

The size of the base light has no reflection on quality. My three ways baseplate is bigger than my ball head baseplate.

I would try and get a new head with matching base plate. You can then leave the baseplate on the camera and use it with the monopod or tripod.

Hi SpikeK6;

I recently bought a Giottos (9271B aluminium) tripod, and got a Manfrotto 808 RC4 head for it, it's a 3 way, very sturdy/chunky, great feel to it. Cost about £85 (ish)...

Quality!

That is a good idea, just getting one the same size now
