Hello everyone. I'm planning to go to Antarctica on a tall sailing ship. It will probably be quite a rough, wet experience but amazing nonetheless. I was wondering what camera you would recommend for a non-expert to go with, capturing distant whales and albatrosses? I used to have a couple of Pentax SLRs in the 1980s, but have just been using phone camera for ages now. I've got a Lumix TZ70, but I suspect it will be too fiddly for this trip. Your suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum, enjoy ;)

I expect you will be wearing thick gloves whilst using a camera? Maybe pop along to your local camera dealer and try some different models for ease os use?

I'm happy to whip the outer gloves off to take pics. I'll have liner gloves underneath. How cold can it be?

Well, if I take anything worth showing. I've been thinking about looking for a used Sony RX10 iv.
