2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB
8x double-layer SuperDrive
Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Wireless Keyboard

Now with 27" of goodness

Only £5 more than the old wireless mighty mouse and they were carp :( Went through three before giving up and buying a MS mouse.

Damn you! that looks nice, (checks C/C limit :naughty:) and and little tease with it being 21.5" !

yes the mighty mouse does look awesome... might have to buy one...:D

think i will stick with my 24" iMac for a long time yet...

I am about to order the TOP end iMac i7 ;)

But

Am not too sure a mate said get the bottom end 27" iMac

I want one too!! Already got 2 PCs and a laptop in the house. Think the other half will kill me though!! :bat:

Loving the new mouse and will be buying as soon as possible. I so miss the multi touch when using external keyboard etc. Plus the current mighty mouse is crap.

As for the iMac, i'll just have to keep looking at pictures for now my Macbook Pro is only 8 months old and not due for an update. :'(

I really like the old mighty mouse other than the roller ball which is a pain. I also preferred the old white keyboard too :)

When i say it's crap i guess i'm being a little harsh. Its the roller ball, it just doesn't work the way it should. The rest of the mouse is great.

When they get rid of that nasty bezel at the bottom of the screen I may contemplate it, until then... (Although to be fair it does seem to have got smaller over the years.)

Its certainly not as bad as it was. Personally I prefer the separate box and monitor of the Mac pro.

Not really a fan of the Mac pro styling (simple is best, my case at the moment http://www.silverpcs.com/product_info.php?products_id=492), but an all in one solution is something i've been umming about for since I saw the Dell 20" laptop they brought out a couple of years ago (since retired). Just not sure I can justfy the cost/performance ratio for a desktop.

OK I'm going to get one of these, as soon as available

iMac 27-inch
2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
1TB Serial ATA Drive
Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (British) and User's Guide (English)
iWork '09 pre installed
Aperture pre-installed
Apple Care Protection Plan for iMac - Auto-enrol

But which do I want

8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 4x2GB
or
8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB

I thinking of the cheap set of 4X2 in the hope that if I need to upgrade later I can do it a bit at a time, like adding 2x4 to give 12gb is this the right thing.

Also the depth of my current desks is not that much, how far away will I need to sit for 27" screen.

The 4Gb sticks are currently horrifically expensive so the 4 x 2Gb option is the only realistic one for the moment then upgrade later like you said. 8Gb should be plenty for most purposes :)

Darn just got in from work and there as soon as i boot up, another wish list item, but will have to give the new mouse a try.

I thought 8GB would be fine for now and just wait till the rest drops in price.

As others will know I've been on about getting a Mac for over 12 months now, but as soon as I saw this my mind was made up, if fact I just can't wait.

Oh please be aware there will be lots of Mac question when I get it

I'm not sure about the Magic Mouse. I think I'll have to go to my favourite Apple store and have a fondle. I've bumped into Kryten on my last two visits and I know he's drooling over the new iMacs so it wouldn't surprise me to see him there again.

Wish the guy in the Apple store had told me about the magic mouse when I paid £48 for a wireless mighty mouse last week. :(

He probably didn't even know! It might be covered by their 14 day return warranty.

With the laws of diminshing returns you are not going to get your moneys worth out of the rest for now and 8gb is still a lot of ram! Any questions just give me a shout.

Just a quick point on the Mighty Mouse ball wheel scrolling thingy. If you hold the mouse upside down and push the ball and roll it around (that doesn't sound right) you might find that it's just accumulated crud stuck in there that's the problem. It's like the old problem with ball mice, only upside down.

Never got on with them myself though, no ability to left and right click at the same time scuppered me.

The only difference between the two 21.5" iMac's is the graphics card.

What difference would that make? I don't play games it's just for PS and LR, would I benefit from the more expensive one?

Strangely that's why I love the mighty mouse. I am unable to independently lift the second finger on my right hand and it often clicks the right button as I try to click the left with my forefinger, which gets extremely frustrating. It never happens with the mighty mouse.

It also has a 1TB HDD were as the cheaper machine has a 500GB HDD

If I remember correctly the latest version of PS does use the power of the graphics card, so it should run better on the ATI Radeon HD 4670

The cheaper graphics card uses shared memory so the 256Mb comes out of the main memory whilst the other graphics card has its own and is faster. The addition of a larger HD also makes up for some of the difference too. The 27" Quad core i7 with 16gb and a 2Tb HD looks nice

Ill be getting the base 27 Inch model :D

256 MB ATI graphics
1 TB HDD
3.06 GHZ Dual Core processor
4GB RAM

Just gotta wait till Xmas :)

Cant decide what keyboard to get though. Anyone think ill benifit from the numeric keypad?

Its worth the extra for the DELETE key :)

IF you will use the keyboard on your knee then the lack of the numeric keypad places the normal keys centrally in your lap which is preferable. If you will only use it on your desk then the full one. Personally I don't actually like the aluminium keyboard I am a big fan of the older white one  Got to buy me a few of them whilst I still can......
